The process of tempering has been restructured to offer clearer, more predictable outcomes. Instead of the previous random application, tempering now follows a precise and straightforward progression, allowing players to steer their gear toward specific power levels more efficiently.

Moreover, the focus of tempering and masterworking has shifted to emphasize personalization and status. Players are now guaranteed to attain their preferred tempering attributes, and the mastery pathway has been streamlined to facilitate ultimate refinement, making it easier to achieve the pinnacle of gear excellence.

Players now have the ability to choose specific affixes for their items through a dedicated tempering recipe, eliminating the randomness previously involved.

This change means items can only carry a single tempered affix, and in some cases, applied affixes on ancestral items may upgrade to more powerful versions.

Tempering charges are now infinitely renewable, allowing for endless crafting and experimentation without concern for depletion.

Masterworking has been revamped to utilize item quality as a progression metric, directly influencing the base attributes such as damage, armor, or resistances, including affixes.

Items can be upgraded up to a maximum quality level of 25, with each masterwork increasing quality by a random amount between 2 and 5 points.

Every quality level enhances all affixes slightly—by 1% per level—making your gear more potent.

The cost for masterworking now scales with the item's current quality, making higher-quality items more expensive to improve.

At maximum quality, you gain a final upgrade called a capstone bonus, which boosts a random affix—be it regular or greater—by 50%.

You can re-roll this affix without resetting your quality progress, but doing so requires obducite and neathiron resources.

This system allows for strategic enhancements, tailoring your gear to better suit your playstyle.

The number of base affixes on non-unique items has increased from three to four, providing more customization options and potential power boosts.

Over 20 new monster affixes have been introduced, and elite enemies will sometimes summon minions sharing their affixes.

Season of Divine Intervention redefines how you defend yourself, use potions, and earn renown across both seasonal and eternal realms.

The concept of fortify shifts from damage reduction to a life reservoir that heals you over time, based on your maximum health.

Gaining fortify now stacks up to your maximum life, and while fortified, you will recover a percentage of your max health per second at the cost of losing an equal amount of fortify.

As long as any fortify remains, you are considered fortified, enabling continuous healing.

Players who haven't used their welcome back booster will now find it relocated to the training ground to prevent accidental use.

Following Season 10, changes include no longer granting new accounts a welcome back booster or automatically adding them to the new character journal.

However, accounts created and logged in before the end of Season 10 can still earn and use the booster at any time, even after season’s end.

Seasonal Boss Summoning

Summoning Azmodan requires visiting a special location in Hawezar, near Zarbinzet, where specific materials must be collected first. Once prepared, you can use a designated summoning altar to call forth Azmodan, who will be empowered by the influence of one of the other three lesser evils.

Choosing the right altar is crucial, as each invocation channels a different lesser evil’s powers, affecting Azmodan’s abilities and the enemies that appear. The optimal moment to summon Azmodan is after unlocking all divine gifts, ensuring you’re fully prepared for the challenge.

The minions supporting Azmodan will display affixes linked to their respective lesser evil, making encounters more dynamic. For example, enemies summoned during Belial’s influence produce large, blinding eyeballs, while those under Duriel’s influence lay giant eggs that spawn maggots if not destroyed promptly.

To make battles more manageable, Azmodan’s resistances have been improved, preventing him from being quickly defeated by high-damage wanderers. Additionally, his fight has been integrated into the party finder, allowing coordinated efforts. Defeating Azmodan rewards you with chests located in the summoning area, which can be opened using corrupted essence.

Duriel has invaded the depths of Helltide, establishing his parasitic grip across the dark realm. Instead of the Blood Maiden, players can now summon Duriel directly during Helltide events. As the threat level escalates to its peak, Duriel’s minions, known as Pangs of Duriel, will appear in place of the usual Hellborne enemies. Enemy groups within Helltide will now predominantly feature maggot-themed monsters, including an enhanced variant called Portent of Pain Mega-Maggots. Accumulating the destruction of multiple eyes during your expedition alters the final confrontation, replacing the usual boss with Belial himself. His ocular manifestations will automatically shatter when you approach, making the fight more dynamic. Recent updates based on player feedback have significantly reduced the time it takes to vanquish Belial, streamlining the final encounter.

Throughout the pit, Belial’s dark presence manifests through illusions—clones of your enemies that aim to break your focus and spread confusion, challenging your perception and strategic thinking.

Meanwhile, in the Kurast Undercity, Andariel’s influence grows more sinister. She has corrupted the spirit beacons, which now pose greater threats but also provide increased attunement rewards. Activating these tormented beacons grants you extra attunement, aiding your progression.

To intensify the challenge, three new tributes specific to Andariel are introduced. These tributes amplify your undercity rewards and ensure her appearance as the ultimate boss. However, selecting these tributes also introduces new dungeon affixes into your run, adding layers of difficulty and complexity to your journey.

In addition, Andariel herself may serve as the ultimate challenge within the undercity. Defeating her not only grants you enhanced rewards but also grants an opportunity for greater glory. Her battle phases have been streamlined, allowing you to skip her transformation stage for a swifter confrontation. Combat dynamics have also been adjusted; if you fall during the fight, her health no longer resets, ensuring a more challenging and consistent battle. Furthermore, foes lurking in the undercity can be infused with wailing spirits—ethereal entities that target your position with relentless assaults.

This season introduces Hadriel, the angelic guardian who has returned to Sanctuary bearing powerful blessings to aid in vanquishing the returning lesser evils. While his divine influence is a fragment of the high heavens’ might, it manifests as potent divine gifts that present both significant rewards and strategic opportunities.

Each divine gift comprises three elements: a reward, a corrupted gift, and a purified gift. Within your inventory’s divine gifts interface, you can slot these gifts either on the inner panel to activate their purified forms or on the outer panel to unleash their corrupted counterparts, enabling tailored enhancements for your battles.

Activating divine gifts by slotting them enhances your rewards, as each gift's associated bonus is triggered upon activation.

However, corrupted gifts introduce increased difficulty to related activities, although they still provide the divine gift's reward bonus.

Purified gifts, on the other hand, eliminate negative effects, add beneficial enhancements, and double the rewards earned.

Unlocking slots for corrupted gifts is automatic as you progress.

Advancing through the seasonal reputation board grants access to purified gift slots for divine gifts.

These purified slots become available at specific divine favor milestones:

  • At rank IV, for Duriel
  • At rank VI, for Andariel
  • At rank VIII, for Azmodan
  • At rank X, for Belial

Defeating a lesser evil for the first time grants you their corrupted essence.

Returning this essence to Hadriel will unlock the two divine gifts linked to that lesser evil.

Once unlocked, each kill of the lesser evil or their minions, with the corresponding divine gift equipped, grants experience toward leveling up that divine gift.

This is your chance to harness the sacred energies from the heavens and channel them into your equipment through sanctification.

Sanctifying an item grants you the opportunity to:

  • Bestow a potent legendary enhancement
  • Elevate an affix to a more powerful version
  • Add a new bonus affix selected from a special sanctification pool
  • Replace an existing affix with a random sanctification affix
  • Infuse your item with a random bonus quality ranging from 5 to 25

Once an item is sanctified, it becomes sealed and cannot be modified further. It is recommended to consider sanctification as your final upgrade. The available sanctification options now tend toward higher values and include generic offensive legendary aspects. In a divine twist, mythical powers may even embed themselves into your gear.

There are two main avenues to achieve this celestial enhancement. During pre-torment difficulties, defeating a lesser evil within certain game modes like Helltide grants a rare chance to sanctify an item at the heavenly anvil. If you decline this opportunity, you must wait for another divine invitation to sanctify again.

Additionally, you can collect heavenly sigils—consumable items that teleport you to the heavenly forge for sanctification. These sigils are only required for sanctifying items of ancestral quality and are earned exclusively in torment difficulties. They can be stored and used at your convenience.

A new challenge emerges in Sanctuary, though not at the start of Season 11. The tower and leaderboards will return with patch 2.5.2, expected in early 2026.

This challenge, the Tower, tests even the most seasoned warriors. It is a multi-stage, timed dungeon designed to push your limits. As you descend into its depths, you'll need to summon your strength, while the tower itself rises to pit you against others who seek to prove their worth.

The Tower will debut in beta, remaining available through upcoming seasons as we refine and expand its features with your feedback. Our focus is on adjusting difficulty, enhancing mechanics, diversifying monsters, and adding new rewards—transforming the tower into a core endgame experience.

Post-release, you’ll unlock the tower by reaching rank 2 in the season progress. Afterward, you can access it via the obelisk in Cerrigar and challenge it on any difficulty level you’ve unlocked through the pit.

Since the PTR, we’ve enabled the tower to unlock difficulty tiers automatically and have removed problematic bosses such as the vampire wraith and the fallen shaman, Sower of Decay.

The season journey now introduces a more demanding path, featuring tougher challenges and enhanced rewards through the new season rank system. Progression to each season rank mandates the completion of a specially designed capstone dungeon, which players can attempt regardless of their current level or difficulty preferences.

In a significant overhaul, the traditional renown system has been phased out in favor of the season rank framework. By accomplishing optional objectives tied to your season rank, you can earn valuable skill points, smoldering ashes, and cosmetic items to customize your experience.

Newly incorporated into several reward caches are heavenly sigils, adding extra value to your seasonal rewards. Additionally, paragon points have been redistributed and increased, now offering a total of 12 additional points within the eternal renown and another 12 dispersed across various season rank rewards.

Your renown benefits are now confined to the eternal realm, but progress within the seasonal realm still grants you advantages aligned with the previous renown system, based on your season rank achievements.

Key rewards include extra skill points awarded at ranks 1 through 3, and additional paragon points granted at ranks 3 through 6. The previous bonus of increased potion capacity from renown rewards has been removed and replaced with alternative benefits. Meanwhile, structures like the Altars of Lilith and Tenets of Akarat remain valuable for earning experience and minor rewards, rather than permanent stat boosts.

As you valiantly defend sanctuary from the encroaching lesser evils, your efforts will be recognized through season rank rewards, empowering your ongoing battle.

Embark on a new adventure by conquering the Tier 5 challenge dungeon, paving the way to unlock Tier 6. Successfully completing this will reward you with Alefta, the coveted pet. Keep in mind, you don’t have to finish every objective in Tier 5 to earn Alefta.

  • Urn of Calamity: Increases gear rewards from world boss encounters.

  • Urn of Sanctification: Grants a chance to obtain extra Heavenly Sigils from all sources.

The new capstone dungeons introduce a challenging system designed to test your progress across various difficulty tiers. While these dungeons specify a recommended character level, their difficulty does not scale dynamically with your current level, so preparation remains key. The five capstone dungeons are:

  • Vault of the Crucible: Level 30, Difficulty: Hard
  • Hellish Descent: Level 50, Difficulty: Penitent
  • Enclave of Darkness: Level 60, Difficulty: Torment I
  • Den of the Apostate: Level 60, Difficulty: Torment II
  • Breach of Sin: Level 60, Difficulty: Torment III

A new wave of items arrives in Sanctuary, eager to combat the demonic threats with heightened intensity. These items come with unique affixes and powers, such as:

  • Stat Bonuses: +51-65 all stats, +424-457 maximum health, 8.1-8.8% cooldown reduction, and +2-3 to brawling skills.
  • Unique Power for Brawling Skills: Using a damaging brawling skill temporarily disables it; once all such skills are disabled, they reset with refreshed cooldowns, and each skill cast during this period deals 50-100% increased damage.

Additional affixes include:

  • Attacks reducing evade cooldown by 0.5 seconds inherently.
  • Crowd control duration increased by 41.5-55.0%.
  • Nature magic cooldowns reduced by 16-25%.
  • +2-3 to Bad Omen, with some items granting +1-2 to Endless Tempest and movement speed boosts of 16.5-25%.

The nature magic affixes unlock a powerful ability: damaging 150-100 enemies with nature spells grants maximum movement speed and makes the player unhindered for 4-8 seconds, while enemies passed through become immobilized briefly.

Other items focus on agility and dodging, with effects like:

  • +15% dodge chance while channeling Dance of Knives.
  • Critical strike chance of 9-11%.
  • Movement speed boosts up to 25%.
  • +62.5-85% damage to agility-based skills.

The Dance of Knives ability now uniquely drops knives from enemies struck. Collecting these knives grants charges, increasing the damage of Dance of Knives by 10-20% per charge, stacking up to three times for a potent attack boost.

Necromancer players rejoice: offensive aspects can now be equipped on shields, enhancing your versatility. These items feature:

  • Attack speed bonus of 10%.
  • +80-94 intelligence and +424-457 maximum health.
  • Golem attacks have a 36.5-50.0% chance to hit twice.
  • Golem mastery increases by 1-2.

Their unique power summons three smaller golems, each dealing 40-60% of normal damage and attacking 30% faster, with respawn times halved.

  • +99-113 intelligence, +57-75% non-physical damage.
